UNDERSTANDING SLEEP AND BEHAVIOUR IN CHILDREN WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL CONDITIONS
Sleep-Impulsivity-Behaviour (SIB) Study
Researchers at University of Birmingham investigated behaviours that challenge (BtC) in autistic children with intellectual disability (aged 4-15 years 9 months). Executive functioning and sleep quality were compared with BtC profiles. The aim of the SIB study was to help identify ways in which we may be able to prevent the onset of particular BtC that have a negative impact on the quality of life of autistic children with intellectual disability.

The SIB project involved a remote play based assessment over video conferencing with some children also taking part in a sleep study, using wristwatch devices. Caregivers also completed questionnaires and an interview.

Please note - data collection for this study is now complete. Thank you to all the families who took part!
